The team’s logo features a lion with sword brandishing it in front of an electric blue background, seen on their jersey during official ICC tournaments and bilateral/trination matches; for non-ICC or bilateral/tri-nation matches however, sponsors’ logos may be substituted instead.

Team History
Sri Lanka National Cricket Team (Sinhala:; Tamil: ) represents Sri Lanka on men’s international cricket. As part of International Cricket Council (ICC), they hold Test and One-Day International (ODI) status with them playing domestically as well as participating in tournaments hosted by other nations and ICC; managed by Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC).
Sri Lanka made their ODI debut against Pakistan in 1984. Since then, they have established themselves as one of the premier limited-overs cricket teams, winning many games while coming close to victory many more times.
Their meteoric rise to fame culminated in 1996 when they won their maiden World Cup win – garnering global recognition and greatly expanding their fanbase due to their aggressive batting style during that tournament.
Sri Lankan cricketers are world renowned for their skill and stamina, making the game immensely popular with youth in Sri Lanka. You will often see children playing cricket on city streets while it has also gained ground rural areas of the nation.
Cricket is considered a national sport here and many enjoy watching matches – Sri Lanka is currently ranked fifth globally for ODIs and T20Is respectively with players excelling at both formats of international play.
Sri Lankan cricket teams typically wear bright blue jerseys with shades of yellow. The team logo features a golden lion holding a sword surrounded by petals of a lotus; its crest represents their nation, bearing their name “Sri Lanka”. Additionally, this same logo can be found on caps worn during ODIs and T20Is.
Sri Lankan cricket board has come under intense public pressure after poor performances at the 2026 ICC World Cup sparked public outrage and mass protest outside SLC headquarters, with protesters demanding resignation of president Shammi Silva and return of standards from before.

Sri Lanka’s national cricket team consists of players representing their nation internationally. Over its history, they have won three ODI World Cup and two Champions Trophy titles as well as several other prestigious records – most significantly their victory at 1996 ODI World Cup led to worldwide recognition for Sri Lanka and their leader, Arjuna Ranatunga who assembled an amazing collection of talent including wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Sangakkara, batsman Mahela Jayawardene, allrounder TM Dilshan as well as fast bowlers Lasith Malinga and Rangana Herath who have become legends among others prestigious records – more importantly this achievement brought global recognition to them country!
In the 2000s, a new wave of stars emerged. Dilruwan Perera was among these, along with wicketkeeper-batsman Kusal Perera and Dinesh Chandimal – alongside spinner Rangana Herath – helping transform Sri Lanka into one of the dominant forces in limited-overs cricket. Furthermore, their style of batting had an international impact.
Sri Lanka is an ongoing force in world Test cricket rankings, often featuring amongst the top ten. They have reached three finals and six runners-up spots of ICC World Cup competition; as well as being known for playing attractive and attacking cricket.
Sri Lanka’s team colours consist of vibrant blue and yellow stripes. Their cricket team jersey features an emblem representing their national flag: a lion emblazoned on its front panel. In addition, “Sri Lanka” can be found written at the top, as well as sponsor logos on both sleeves of their uniform.
Sri Lankan cricket is supported by many companies, such as Dilmah Tea, Dialog Axiata and Mobitel Sri Lanka. Furthermore, regional and provincial associations also lend support.
The Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) oversees its advancement and runs major competitions such as Premier Trophy tournament and List A Premier Limited Overs Tournament as well as hosting Inter-Provincial Tournament where teams from different parts of Sri Lanka vie against one another.
Matches Against Other Teams
