Gujarat Titans Vs Mumbai Indians Match Scorecard

New Chandigarh has seen some high scores in previous matches at New Chandigarh, so barring any rain, it should provide another high-scoring encounter between GT’s top three batsmen and bowling attack, as reflected in the Gujarat Titans Vs Mumbai Indians Match Scorecard.

Shubman Gill-led team are in good position to qualify for the playoffs with 14 points under their belts; however, they should keep an eye out for MI skipper Hardik Pandya as they could make life difficult.

MI vs GT

Gujarat Titans outwitted Mumbai Indians – and rain! – to win an incredible last-ball victory and ascend to the top of the Indian Premier League table.

Thought-provoking performances with bat were highlighted throughout, but Jasprit Bumrah’s double strike made all the difference for GT who had trailed by 57 runs at one stage before Bumrah struck twice with his double strike to turn things in their favour and seal victory at last ball.

After winning the toss and choosing to field, MI was initially unable to gain control as GT’s powerplay proved formidable. They eventually lost two wickets quickly to reduce them to 29/1 after six overs; luckily however, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler played well to limit further damage.

GT remain firm favourites to take out the playoffs despite missing three of their top four players for England duty, having defeated MI twice during league play this year.

Yet their bowling may be weaker than expected with Mohammed Siraj losing form and Rashid Khan failing to consistently deliver.

GT’s chase began strongly as Rahul Tewatia and newcomer Kusal Mendis struck an impressive couple of boundaries before their hopes were quickly dashed after Sai Sudharsan was caught at midwicket off Mohd Siraj;

Will Jacks fell victim to dropped catches (twice by Sudharsan and once by Sherfane Rutherford). They eventually reached 88/5 before Sai Sudharsan was caught at midwicket off Mohd Siraj and Will Jacks was lost due to drop catches (twice by Sudharsan and once by Sherfane Rutherford).

Rain interruption reduced the required overs to 24 and changed the momentum back in MI’s favour, with Bumrah’s double strike reducing GT to 123/7 after 17 overs – but another rain delay brought them close to victory with just 15 runs needed from their final two overs to achieve victory.

But the drama was far from over as new batter Arshad Khan attempted a run-out chance with one ball remaining but ran too quickly and was ruled out of his crease as an offside single off Deepak Chahar’s last over.

A direct hit from an angry Hardik Pandya would have forced a super over, but instead the ball rolled away to the boundary; MI dropped from second place into fourth as their first loss in two qualifier games occurred, leaving them facing Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday as they battled hard for every win that would guarantee them an IPL quarter-final spot whereas another loss could see them miss out altogether on play-off spots altogether.

IPL 2025

Indian Premier League (IPL) is an annual Twenty20 cricket competition hosted by Indian Cricket Board franchises. There are 10 teams participating over three months and over 74 matches were contested during IPL 18 (also known as IPL 18).

Since its creation in 2008, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has enjoyed immense growth. Over time, its ratings have steadily increased – surpassing Bollywood movies in terms of viewership.

The 2025 tournament saw record viewership numbers with 16.3 million watching on average per match day! This increase also provided a substantial revenue boost; now valued at over $1.1 billion!

Apart from its increased viewership, the IPL also features some of the world’s premier players. Virat Kohli and Yuzvendra Chahal lead in this year’s tournament as top scorers; Kohli tops run-scorers while Chahal took most wickets.

Other noteworthy players include Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane – making this season one of the greatest yet.

This year’s IPL sees several notable modifications. Fielding teams can now request a ball change after the tenth over in an evening game to address dew, while saliva polishing has been reinstated and replaced by Hawk-Eye to accurately judge off-side wides and waist-high no-balls.

This season has many intriguing storylines to follow. CSK and MI are currently the two most successful teams in IPL history with five titles each; KKR and RCB follow closely behind with three wins each; other teams such as Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and now-defunct Deccan Chargers have each secured one title as well.

On May 20, the IPL playoffs will kick off, starting with two top teams competing in a qualifier match to decide who gets direct entry to the final.

Meanwhile, third and fourth-placed teams will participate in an eliminator match to decide their place among finalist teams. These two teams will meet again for the IPL final on May 25 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. In order to qualify for this final, teams must win all eight of their league matches, winning also the Purple Cap awarded to the highest wicket-taker of the tournament (this award remains visible until next season ends), considered one of the most coveted awards in IPL cricket – past winners include Dwayne Bravo and Bhuvneshwar Kumar as winners of this honor.

Sportstar provides live coverage, commentary and highlights from the IPL 2025 Eliminator between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians on Sportstar.

The Titans (GT), are a professional Twenty20 cricket team from Ahmedabad which participates in the Indian Premier League. Owned by Torrent Group with CVC Capital Partners holding a minority shareholding, they made an incredible debut during 2022 when they won their inaugural title within just their second season of playing! However, in 2023 MS Dhoni’s CSK crew edged them out on a last-ball thriller!

Mohammad Shami was the Titans’ main asset during their two seasons together, becoming their leading wicket-taker both seasons and averaging less than eight runs per over with his bowling.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler each scored over 500 runs as mainstays while middle order weakness led them downhill towards the end of regular season play; hence why they brought in new captain for playoffs – former orange cap winner Sai Sudharsan from 2023 was promoted into this role as well.
