Afghanistan vs. Bangladesh
Bangladesh earned an enthralling victory at 45/6 thanks to Afif Hossain and Mehidy Hasan’s fantastic performances – it proved they could be a threat across all formats of cricket!
But the match was marred by controversy as several members of Afghanistan’s touring squad tested positive for Covid-19 in Sylhet during a retest, prompting Ebadot’s reinstatement to ODI side while Nasum Ahmed was dropped.
Furthermore, their team dropped several crucial catches that could have made an impactful difference to the match outcome.

1st ODI
Afghanistan bounced back after suffering an embarrassing T20 series defeat, defeating Bangladesh 3-0 in Abu Dhabi for their opening ODI of their three-match Etisalat Cup Series.
Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat, but Afghan bowlers proved resilient, restricting Bangladesh to 221 all out in their first innings with Rashid Khan taking three wickets while Azmatullah Omarzai (3/40) and AM Ghazanfar (2/55) also contributing with wickets.
Afghan batsmen responded with some clever cricket on an unpredictable pitch. Tawhid Hridoy and Mehidy Hasan Miraz put on an important 102-run partnership at the top, before lower middle order struggled in its wake.
Once both had gone, Emon and Tanzim joined forces to rebuild the innings; adding 109 for second wicket before eventually being dismissed for 178 runs in total.
Match was closely contested until Omarzai hit a crucial four in the 42nd over, which turned the tide and sealed Afghanistan’s much-needed win.
Following this feat, Hashmatullah Shahidi became the first ever captain to lead his side through 50 ODI matches; for this effort he received Player of the Match accolades. Afghanistan will look to build on their recent triumph at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Sylhet.
2nd ODI
Afghanistan and Bangladesh have experienced remarkable development over recent years, with Afghanistan becoming a dominating T20I force while Bangladesh continuing to be one of the best ODI sides worldwide.
Now they’re set to meet again in Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Zayed Stadium for the second of this three-match ODI series and we have all of our latest Dream11 predictions, fantasy tips, probable playing XIs, match insights for this crucial matchup between Afghanistan and Bangladesh!
Afghanistan’s batting struggled in their opening game, though Ibrahim Zadran stood tall with an innings of 95 as they managed to post 190 runs in just 44.5 overs.
Unfortunately, their batsmen failed to capitalize and they were all bowled out in just 44.5 overs; Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Azmatullah Omarzai must come through with deliveries from middle order batsmen Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Omarzai must step up as middle order batsmen
Bangladesh will hope that some of their T20I success carries over into ODI cricket. Saif Hassan has impressed in recent weeks and could find himself an ODI squad spot, hoping to provide much-needed stability to an unsteady middle order which lacks standout options such as Mohammad Naim, Jaker Ali, Nurul Hasan or Shamim Hossain who all might vie for places alongside Mustafizur Rahman, Tanvir Islam or Taskin Ahmed.
3rd ODI
Bangladesh have won their inaugural One-Day International against Afghanistan by an emphatic margin of 141 runs to make an excellent start to their series.
They outplayed Afghanistan across all aspects of play – bat, bowling and fielding! Tamim Iqbal’s record-breaking century provided the final touch!
Afghanistan’s touring party were all cleared of Covid-19 during a second retest conducted in Sylhet. Now they can look forward to facing off against England in less than one week’s time!
Bilal Sami bowled a length delivery that hit Litton square on his fifth stump channel and Litton tried to defend against it but got outwitted on the outside edge, trying to run with it but failed as the ball hit his foot and was taken by the keeper!
Emon and Tanzim scored fifties as Bangladesh fought hard, but ultimately it wasn’t enough. Afghanistan were never in contention on this surface due to Rashid and Sami’s tremendous fielding skills and lack of partners due to dropped catches or poor bowling by Bangladesh batting division; ultimately Bangladesh cruised to victory with ease! Their next test series against England may prove even more intriguing should this momentum carry through!
4th ODI
Shakib Al Hasan excelled with both bat and ball as Bangladesh defeated Afghanistan by 62 runs to win their fourth One Day International. After smashing a 51-ball innings to top the run-scoring chart, Shakib then took five wickets at an average of just 7.75; it marked his second five wicket haul of the World Cup and made him only the second player ever to both score fifty runs and take five or more wickets simultaneously in an ODI match.
Afghanistan’s batsmen struggled against Bangladesh spinners, and were reduced to 151/6 at one stage. But their lower order made a remarkable comeback led by Rahmanullah Gurbaz’s composed 106 not out in which he reached the mark with one six in his final over and then hit three more sixes over subsequent two overs en route.
Bangladesh made a dismal start to their reply, losing four wickets within 10 overs and failing to find their footing with only Litton Das (47 off 49 balls) and Mohammad Nabi (30 off 40) making double figures for Young Tigers.
But Bangladesh bowlers stepped up the pressure, quickly taking control of the game in their hands. With seven wickets still to take from Pakistan’s innings, they closed it off quickly for a consolation victory that leaves both teams level on points in the table, giving Bangladesh another shot at qualifying for semi-finals.
