Mitchell Marsh hit 10 fours and eight maximums during his 117-ball bombardment of LSG to set an impressive total. Marsh and Aiden Markram shared an opening partnership of 91 runs before Sherfane Rutherford and Shahrukh Khan added another 86 runs in just 6.4 overs for LSG’s impressive total.
Gujarat Titans may lose Jos Buttler due to national duty, but assistant coach Mathew Wade believes someone else can step into his No. 3 role without disrupting the balance of the side, as reflected in the Lucknow Super Giants Vs Gujarat Titans Match Scorecard.
He highlighted the consistency of openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill, who have amassed 617 runs between them in 13 innings this season, providing Gujarat with a strong foundation at the top of the order.

First innings
Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Super Giants played out an exciting IPL 2025 league fixture marked by disciplined bowling and composed batting.
Gujarat Titans batted first and built their innings around solid opening partnerships that resulted in aggressive average despite dropping wickets overdue.
Lucknow Super Giants countered with disciplined bowling from their top order that enabled them to chase down the target successfully.
The Gujarat Titans is a professional Twenty20 cricket franchise based out of Ahmedabad, India that competes in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Established in 2022 and owned by Torrent Group and CVC Capital Partners, its founding captain Shubman Gill leads this side under Ashish Nehra as coach; recently they released their team anthem “Aava De” via video clip as their team song.
The game took place at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. In its first innings, both sides exchanged 10 wickets. Ultimately, however, home side won by 6 wickets after Vijay Shankar fell victim to Avesh’s bowling for a duck before Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan’s middle order made an impactful contribution with useful runs from them both.
Second innings
Lucknow Super Giants’ powerful combination of balanced batting and disciplined bowling propelled them to an emphatic six-wicket win against Gujarat Titans at Ekana Cricket Stadium during TATA IPL 2025’s Ekana match at Ekana Cricket Stadium.
LSG amassed 181 with Aiden Markram’s superb 58 off 31 and Nicholas Pooran’s fast innings leading them towards victory.
GT were off to an uncertain start after winning the toss and selecting LSG to bat, despite Kagiso Rabada’s slip up as Hawk-Eye ruled it had touched ground prior to falling from his hand.
Yet their hosts steadily built an imposing total with Markram and Rishabh Pant combining well to reach 61/0 during powerplay overs.
LSG’s middle order then formed an essential partnership, working to maintain their desired run rate within its designated parameters.
Strategic shot selection and minimal dot balls assisted them in keeping charge under control throughout the middle overs. Timing wickets proved key in stopping LSG from crossing over the 90-run mark – something which proved crucial in the end.
Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill each made half-centuries, but their efforts weren’t enough to put the game out of reach.
It fell to Shahrukh Khan and Sherfane Rutherford to run up 36 runs from 14th and 15th overs including three sixes before soon being caught off Akash Deep and Shahbaz Ahmed’s bowling.
Even after this loss, GT remain top of the table with 18 points from 13 matches and are in contention for playoff qualification.
Jos Buttler-led side will need to improve in their next few games if they want to maintain their good form as soon-to-be international duty calls him away; with Dwayne Smith set out until further notice due to knee injury sustained this match;
losing him will impose significant changes upon GT’s plans as they will likely have to use bench strength more often and play their bench players more frequently as a result of absence of captain Dwayne Smith may force them play more frequently and play bench strength more frequently compared to before;
Final innings
GT had much to prove following a dismal run of form, yet this match proved the chance they needed to stay competitive for a top two finish.
A brilliant opening partnership between Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill began them off perfectly by maximising powerplay over six overs to reach 54/0 in six overs.
GT’s troubles began to intensify after they struggled to contain LSG’s batsmen. Gill and Sudharsan both fell to Ravi Bishnoi and Jos Buttler respectively – this proved crucial as GT couldn’t recover.
LSG’s revamped batting lineup proved too powerful for GT’s bowlers as they raced to 236/5 with eight wickets still intact at the end of their innings.
Mitchell Marsh scored an outstanding 117 off 64 balls as its cornerstone, supported by Nicholas Pooran who hit an outstanding 61 off 34 balls – both players contributing massively towards LSG’s success.
Both players put on an electrifying batting display against GT’s bowling attack, smashing massive sixes. Together they formed a 100-run partnership in just 23 deliveries which kept the game tight but it was Pooran who stole the show with some hard hitting.
With the bat, he unleashed an unrelenting assault against GT bowlers and dismantled their attack with precision and efficiency, hitting three consecutive sixes to add some firepower to his innings.
No matter his relentless hitting, however, LSG was ultimately denied his century off the final ball of his innings. Looking for clearance at long off but instead ending up holed out at deep midwicket; although disappointing as an endpoint of an otherwise positive performance.
