India, fresh off their win at the 2024 T20 World Cup, embarked on a five-match series against Zimbabwe under Shubman Gill’s captaincy.
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and Arshdeep Singh were notable absentees while Abhishek Sharma, Riyan Parag and Tushar Deshpande all received first call-ups to take on their maiden international series appearance.
India was victorious against Zimbabwe 2024 at Harare Sports Club with a 100 run win in their second matchup of IND vs ZIM 2024, winning by 100 runs.
They elected to bat first after winning the toss and elected Abhishek Sharma was given permission to bat first; their efforts led them to an impressive total score of 234.2 runs with Abhishek scoring his century while Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rinku Singh remaining unbeaten with scores of 77 and 48 respectively; Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan both delivered three wickets each with three wickets.
Zimbabwe struggled to score their target. They lost opener Innocent Kaia early in the match and eventually fell to 46/4 at one point before Luke Jongwe and Wesley Madhevere put up some resistance before eventually being bowled out for just 134 runs in 18.4 overs.

Sanju Samson, Shivam Dube and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been left out of India’s T20I squad against Zimbabwe ahead of the five-match T20I series beginning September 9th.
These three were part of the side that won the ICC T20 World Cup back in June; their place has been taken by Sai Sudharsan, Jitesh Sharma and Harshit Rana instead.
Shubman Gill will become India’s new captain while VVS Laxman will act as interim coach, while all of Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Reddy, Riyan Parag, Washington Sundar Ravi Bishnoi Khaleel Ahmed Mukesh Kumar and Tushar Deshpande have remained unchanged in their roles as players and staff.
