Ranji Trophy

The Ranji Trophy is India’s most renowned domestic first-class cricket competition, founded in 1934. State and regional teams vie for national pride through this annual contest that pits state against state. Over time, this tournament has served as an incubator for some of India’s future cricketing greats; Kerala team members have established themselves as one of its top teams but must prove their mettle once more during final stages.

Kerala team’s performance at Ranji Trophy quarter-finals marks an excellent beginning for their state, as they look forward to continuing their strong performances going forward. But in order to reach semi-finals of competition (having come close in previous seasons), consistency will need to improve significantly in order to reach final stages of competition.

This year, Kerala cricket will aim to improve their performance in the Ranji Trophy by targeting key areas for improvement such as bowling, batting and fielding. Furthermore, match-winning abilities must also be developed so as to win matches.

With these improvements in place, Kerala cricket will make it to the Ranji Trophy semifinals – an outstanding achievement and opportunity for them to compete against some of the top teams across India.

Nidheesh and Basil N. P’s four-wicket burst was instrumental to Kerala’s victory against Goa. Both bowled full and straight with seam movement to dismantle Goa’s batting order – opener Suyash Prabhudesai being first out, edged a ball from Nidheesh towards short leg before Abhinav Tejrana edged full delivery from Basil to gully for a duck!

Kerala Cricket Team’s success in Ranji Trophy 2018-19 was an indication of its slow but steady improvement, along with their hard work, resilience, and optimism. Furthermore, their victory served as a powerful response to Raiphi Gomez, VA Jagadeesh, S Sreesanth Rohan Prem and Tinu Yohannan leading a revolt against their manager Baby during 2018-19 resulting in them staging a walkout during their match against Mumbai.

T20 league

Kerala remains optimistic about their cricket future despite poor results in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, as one of only few states to host a domestic T20 league that provides fringe players and regular domestic regulars an invaluable platform to gain experience and catch IPL scouts’ eye; building confidence among teammates along the way. Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) will host KCA Pink T20 Challengers this season to achieve this.

With the increasing popularity of domestic T20 leagues comes the WPL, an inaugural competition dedicated exclusively to women. Boasting top players from across India and streamed live, it aims to improve domestic cricket standards in India while raising women’s cricket profile while providing new opportunities for young players.

Vishnu Vinod is an unparalleled player, capable of both inspiring awe and frustration simultaneously. His ability to dominate his opponents with devastating blows is unrivaled; while often criticised for taking risks with his game – it continues to amaze and surprise fans alike.

Getting professionals

Professionalism is key in building any cricket team. These individuals are responsible for improving player’s skills and performance while serving as role models to young players and helping them realize their full potential. Many top-tier academies in Kerala have hired professional cricket coaches as role models to assist students improve their game.

Trained by experienced and qualified coaches, these professional cricket coaches offer regular guidance while being familiar with rules of the game as well as developing technique and style of players.

The Kerala Cricket League (KCL) is a franchise-based T20 cricket tournament run by the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA), featuring six franchise-based organizations representing different parts of Kerala. Established in 2024, it has since grown into an invaluable platform for domestic players as well as emerging talents.

Its unique structure includes both a double round-robin format and knockout section, giving teams the ability to compete in multiple matches, giving them more of a chance of victory, while giving fans access to watch more than one fit without traveling between stadiums.

KCL featured many experienced domestic players as well as promising younger ones such as Sachin Baby, Basil Thampi, Rohan Kunnummal and Vishnu Vinod in its inaugural season, highlighting the depth of talent associated with the Kerala Cricket Team.

The tournament was held from August 20-September 5 at Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, with the final between Kochi Blue Tigers and Calicut Globstars broadcast live on Star Sports and online via FanCode. Furthermore, Fulltrack AI technology was implemented in the tournament to help coaches and players improve training and coaching methods through advanced analytics.
