Andhra vs Kerala 1st ODI
After stunning Mumbai and Delhi in back-to-back games, Kerala squandered their dominance against Andhra, resulting in a frustrating draw in their Ranji Trophy Group C clash. Dropped catches and a subdued bowling attack made it easy for the hosts to bat out the match. Kerala captain Azharuddeen lamented the missed opportunities and said that lack of tactical nous cost them dearly.
After a disappointing first-innings total of 219/10, Kerala batted hard in the second to set a target of 302 runs for victory. Opener KS Bharat led the way, adding 108 runs for the third wicket with captain GH Vihari. But a brilliant piece of fielding by Basil Thampi put paid to any hopes of an Andhra comeback and the match ended in a tie.
Earlier, Andhra opener Mohd Azharuddeen was the star of the show, scoring 82 as the hosts reached 302/6 before declaring their innings on day two in Guwahati. Rohan Prem was the other notable contributor for the hosts as he contributed 42. But the collapse from there on was dramatic and a total of only 41 runs was added in the remaining 77 overs.
On the other hand, Karnataka’s D B Ravi Teja hit a fine unbeaten century to help his side reach 179/2 on the opening day against Goa in Valsad. Abhimanyu Mithun sent back both K Bharat and Ricky Bhui to squander the hosts’ good start. But they were soon stifled as a superb effort by the Goa bowlers restricted them to just 131 for five at stumps on the second day. Ajay Gupta (2/46) and Abrar Kazi (1/23) shared the other two wickets for the visitors.
Andhra vs Kerala 3rd ODI
Kerala threw in a challenge but Andhra refused to take it and played it safe as the Ranji Trophy Group C cricket match ended in a draw at the ACA stadium here on Wednesday. Sachin Baby hit a half-century and shared an unbroken 59 run stand with Vinod Kumar to help Kerala set a challenging target of 295 for Andhra in its second innings. But captain G.H. Vihari’s dour batting and some fine fielding from Basil Thampi closed down Kerala’s chances of a comeback.
Andhra vs Kerala 4th ODI
Kerala threw in a challenge but Andhra refused to take it and played it safe as their Ranji Trophy Group C match ended in a draw at the ACA stadium here on Wednesday. K.S. Bharat stood firm at the forefront of Andhra’s resistance but was run out after a straight drive from Vihari ricocheted off bowler Sandeep Warrier’s hands and into his stumps. He shared a 136-run stand with Ricky Bhui to deny Kerala any chance of an outright win.
The stalemate gave Andhra three first-innings points while Kerala took a point to remain second in the table. The Andhra Cricket Team Vs Kerala Cricket Team Match Scorecard reflected a closely fought Ranji Trophy Group C contest. However, a chance for Kerala to progress to the next round looked unlikely as they needed four more wins from their remaining five matches.
