2nd ODI

After conceding a first-innings lead, Mumbai staged a comeback with some outstanding batting from skipper Shreyas Iyer and Abhishek Nayar. But a late collapse saw the hosts lose control.

Mumbai openers Prithvi Shaw and Ayush Mhatre made an ideal start in the second innings, adding 78 runs in the opening seven overs. But after they reached the halfway mark, Andhra bowlers struck again. Captain Kauthankar was lbw off Dhawal Kulkarni while Mohit Avasthi also got caught at slip cordon by Bhupen Lalwani.

Lalith Mohan then castled Andhra number five Jay Bista off a short delivery as the visitors lost three wickets in quick succession. Andhra’s openers were not helped by a shoddy pitch, and they were unable to exploit the gaps off the fifth-stump line. But despite falling behind the run-rate, they managed to avoid a follow-on.

At lunch, Gujarat was on 221 for five, a lead of 170. Gnaneshwar and Girinath are both closing in on their fifties while Umang Kumar and Karan Patel could be the two batsmen responsible for keeping the visitors in the game. But the home side will have to make sure they don’t lose too many more wickets in the final session if they are to avoid another innings defeat. They need to score a further 234 runs in the last two sessions to secure victory.

3rd ODI

VIZIANAGARAM: Siddhesh Lad hit a strokeful unbeaten fifty to guide Mumbai to 158-5 at stumps on the third day of their Ranji Trophy Group B match against Andhra Pradesh here on Saturday. Pacer Balwinder Sandhu took a five-wicket haul while Cheepurapalli Stephen and Bandaru Ayyappa claimed two wickets each.

India will look to tweak their bowling combinations in the third ODI against Australia at the Manuka Oval in Canberra on Wednesday, after a thumping 0-3 series loss in New Zealand. The Indian team will wear special Army hats on the day as a mark of respect to the jawans.

4th ODI

After a flat first day at the Wankhede Stadium, Mohit Avasthi (53) and Tanushree Kotian (25) took the game away from Andhra with their unbroken 98-run partnership that kept Mumbai in control on a second successive day. Avasthi’s left-arm spin and the pace of Dhawal Kulkarni frustrated a poor Andhra bowling lot on a sweltering day.

Hyderabad opener Head’s blazing start of 129 off just 67 balls was cut short in the middle overs by Allah Ghazanfar (2-51) and captain Hardik Pandya (1-39). Will Jacks (46) and Rickelton (67 off 46) were solid as well, sharing a 93-run stand. However, Jasprit Bumrah (0-54) was left wanting as he continued to struggle in his comeback season.

He has now taken just two wickets in his eight games this season. For fans following the Andhra Cricket Team Vs Mumbai Cricket Team Players, individual performances and bowling statistics offer useful insights into the teams’ strengths and match dynamics.
