Andhra Ranji Trophy
With this win, Andhra moved into second spot in Group A. The team is now 14 points behind Karnataka with two more games to go. This was the team’s first win under new coach Gary Stead. The former New Zealand cricket coach had joined the team earlier this year. His appointment has had a positive impact on the players. He has brought in a different style of play and encouraged the players to be selfless.
Abhishek Reddy (70) and Karan Shinde (51) smashed impressive half-centuries to guide the Andhra Cricket Team to a four-wicket victory over Tamil Nadu in their Ranji Trophy match played at Visakhapatnam. The batting performance provided the team with the stability needed during the chase, while the bowlers also played an important role by claiming seven wickets and restricting Tamil Nadu to 195 for nine. The disciplined bowling effort ensured that the Andhra Cricket Team remained in control of the contest and successfully completed the target.
The victory was particularly important for the Andhra Cricket Team as it strengthened their position in the group and gave them valuable momentum in their pursuit of a place in the knockout stage.
Abhishek Reddy and Karan Shinde showed good composure under pressure, building the foundation for the successful chase. Their contributions, combined with an effective bowling display, highlighted the team’s balanced approach across both innings.
MSK Prasad lauded the Ricky Bhui-led side for its strong all-round performance and praised the players for maintaining their focus throughout the match. He also pointed out that the Andhra Cricket Team’s decision to appoint a foreign coach had started to produce positive results.
The new coaching setup has introduced a different approach to the team’s preparation and match strategy, encouraging players to take responsibility and play with greater confidence.
The result against Tamil Nadu therefore represented more than just another Ranji Trophy victory for the Andhra Cricket Team. It demonstrated the team’s improving consistency, the growing confidence of its players and the impact of the new coaching philosophy. With important matches still remaining, Andhra will look to carry this momentum forward and strengthen its chances of progressing to the knockout stages.
