India vs England – 1st Test

India was in control at various points in the game but ultimately couldn’t deliver in key moments. Their visitors may be disappointed with the final result but will surely take away plenty of valuable lessons from Headingley – this encounter offers them an ideal chance to organize themselves ahead of the second Test starting in Chennai this Saturday.

England are no strangers to rain-affected draws and this one was always going to be tough for them. Their lower middle order did a sterling job of taking charge and Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill made noteworthy contributions.

But James Anderson made his presence felt with his reverse swing bowling, taking out Gill before sealing his success with Rishabh Pant’s scalp.

Batsmen did well to give England a fighting chance, but in the end it wasn’t to be. From 307/6 they slumped from 359/3 due to an unexpected collapse aided by Ben Duckett’s superb innings and Ollie Pope’s unbeaten 99 not being enough. England’s lower middle order was always going to be tested by India but that hasn’t really happened this game.

After an impressive opening performance from India, they struggled to match England’s relentless pace. There was an early scare for India when Jaiswal edged a short ball to Joe Root at slip but quickly recovered to resume batting at his usual spot in the middle.

India fell further behind but two pair put up an admirable stand before playing came to a close at Trent Bridge – an outstanding start for England and an exceptional 100th Test Test for Joe Root! The second Test will take place there on Saturday so stay tuned with ESPNcricinfo for updates!

India vs England – 2nd Test

India lost their lead in the opening Test but quickly regained it in Edgbaston. Thanks to Akash Deep’s inspired bowling performance, they broke their Birmingham jinx after eight attempts where they had failed. Furthermore, this win marked India’s fourth-largest margin of victory ever at this venue.

Gautam Gambhir has enjoyed an exciting first two months as the India coach for white-ball cricket but must now also deliver in red-ball cricket.

While he has overseen three wins out of 11 Test matches thus far, when India take on England at Edgbaston on Wednesday (July 2) they need to overcome an early deficit to claim victory and level up the five-match series.

Jasprit Bumrah will replace Shardul Thakur who failed to have an impactful showing at Leeds. Thakur’s absence may give an opportunity for Nitish Kumar Reddy or Arshdeep Singh to add left-arm pace variety into the attack.

India’s batsmen were in fine fettle, providing the top order with a solid foundation for India’s bowlers to work their magic.

Rishabh Pant reclaimed his position as world-best wicketkeeper-batsman while creating history by becoming the first batsman – ever and youngest Indian to score 100 runs in both innings of a game!

Though England lost the toss and were sent in to bat, Joe Root’s century propelled England forward quickly in this Test match and cemented his place as England’s fifth highest run scorer of all-time in Test cricket history.

Ben Stokes continued his impressive run by reaching three figures again during England’s second innings as they established an irreparable advantage.

Ben Stokes then provided the finishing touch as only the third English seamer to take 50 wickets against India during a Test series; it was his seventh five-wicket haul against them, equalling Australia’s Glenn McGrath for most wickets by an international cricketer in England.

India vs England – 3rd Test

The dramatic third Test at Lord’s concluded with plenty of drama and Ravindra Jadeja making his comeback as one of cricket’s great entertainers. The low scoring, slow run rate provided a captivating viewing experience with moments of brilliance from both teams – from Zak Crawley’s time-wasting tactics to verbal exchanges between England fielders and India batsmen; yet most of its drama lay with Ravindra Jadeja himself.

Jadeja’s last-wicket heroics saved India from an embarrassing innings defeat and set the scene for an exciting conclusion to this Test match.

They were 246/6 at tea, and any further wickets would have meant game over for India’s hopes to salvage this Test, yet Jadeja stood strong, assisted by older balls and resilient lower order batsmen such as Nitish Kumar Reddy (72nd stand of 72 runs) and Washington Sundar (50th of 50 hits).

Jadeja finally succumbed to Jofra Archer’s poor bowling with one off-length delivery that hit him square on and was hooked inexplicably for four.

England were in danger of losing control, but Jadeja and lower order resistance ensured they held on to win by 107 runs.

Rahul and Pant were earlier the driving forces behind India’s innings, both opening batsmen making centuries. Rahul’s was a controlled and unruffled innings which saw him become only the fourth overseas batsman ever to score two tons at Lord’s while Pant showcased his trademark stylish cricket which made him such a fan favourite here.

Shoaib Bashir spent much of Wednesday off the field due to an injury to his little finger but will return for the fourth Test at Old Trafford, providing hosts the chance to stay competitive against India’s pace-setters. Shubman Gill did not commit on Jasprit Bumrah’s availability for that match, however. Gill will be eager to monitor how fast Jasprit recovers during that period.

India vs England – 4th Test

After suffering an agonizing defeat at Lord’s, India will enter their fourth Test at Old Trafford trailing 2-1 in the series. Shubman Gill’s team will look to level it and force a decider at The Oval; when these two sides last met here in 2014, MS Dhoni stood tall as resistance with an outstanding innings of 71 at this venue.

However, India have reason to believe they can fight back and turn things in their favour this time around. They will be buoyed by Jofra Archer’s return after missing the third Test due to injury; while India’s bowlers have been performing exceptionally well and will provide England’s batters with tough opposition.

The visitors will look to improve their batting, particularly at the top of the order, in order to build up an impressive total and have a chance of victory in this game. Rishabh Pant, especially, has been performing exceptionally well and remains one of the leading run scorers for India.

India would benefit greatly from having strong batsmen like KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara and Virat Kohli perform at their best on the final day. Their performances can play an instrumental role in securing an epic win!

Ravindra Jadeja will look to maintain his impressive form by reaching a century in this match, currently sitting sixth on the all-time Indian list for fastest centuries made.

He hopes to surpass fellow spinners Harbhajan Singh, Axar Patel and Sri Lanka’s Rangana Herath on that front as well as joining Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindradra Ganesh as one of three players with double centuries and 30 wickets taken away Test matches respectively.
