Aman Mokhade produced a faultless innings to surpass Devdutt Padikkal’s top score and become this season’s leading run-getter of the Ranji Trophy.

Batting
Karnataka has always been known for being home to exceptional cricket talent. Many Indian team players such as Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath Roger Binny and Sunil Joshi hail from Karnataka; at one time it was considered one of three centers of excellence – alongside Mumbai and Maharashtra – in domestic cricket.

The KSCA Stadium in Bengaluru is one of India’s premier cricket stadiums, located in its bustling center and known for hosting international matches.
KSCA Stadium was named in honour of M Chinnaswamy, former president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India; additionally it also hosts cultural and sporting events and serves as home for several clubs owned by KSCA: Bangalore Cricket Club (KSCA-owned), Mount Joy Cricket Club, Select Cricket Club and Malleshwaram United Cricket Club.
Since 1947, when its inaugural match against a visiting West Indies team took place, KSCA has hosted many high-profile sporting events, drawing crowds of 50,000 or more each time it opens its doors for sports activities and hosting the highly coveted Bengaluru Open tournament.
Vidarbha cricket team, representing eastern Maharashtra, competes in three of India’s domestic tournaments: Ranji Trophy (first-class cricket), Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Irani Trophy. For their debut performance during 2017-18 Ranji Trophy season they reached and defeated Delhi by five runs to advance to final.
Ranji Trophy 2025-26 will feature four teams from Group B and two from Group A. The top-two finishers in each group will qualify for the knockout stage while third and fourth placed teams will face off against one another to decide who advances to quarterfinals.
Bowling
Karnataka cricket team stands out from domestic cricket as one of the premier bowling units. Capable of picking up wickets regularly and keeping opponents from scoring runs, as well as creating incredible partnerships between batsmen, Karnataka is truly one of the teams worth watching in upcoming matches.
Karnataka State Cricket Association was established in 1933 and affiliated to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in 1934 through efforts led by Professor JC Rollo, Justice Mr P Medappa, Capt T Murari and Major YVK Murthy. Since 1934 it has served as the governing body for all cricket activities within Karnataka state;
M Chinnaswamy Stadium hosts both Test matches and One Day Internationals hosted regularly, two more cricket stadiums exist in Hubli and Belagavi – providing its governance structure and running all cricket activities within Karnataka state – for which it provides leadership from within.
KSCA takes great pride in producing some of India’s greatest cricketers ever, such as Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Javagal Srinath Sunil Joshi Venkatesh Prasad and Dodda Ganesh who all represented our state at one time or another.
Karnataka cricket team’s 2014-15 season was outstanding as they captured three titles en-route to an impressive treble win: Ranji Trophy by defeating Tamil Nadu in the final, Irani Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy respectively.
This year they hope to build upon their previous successes and fight hard in the quarter-finals. Their talented squad boasts Mayank Agarwal, Krishnappa Gowtham and HS Sharath as key members; hopefully these three players can do well and represent their state with pride!
Fielding
Karnataka had an outstanding run in the Ranji Trophy last season, winning four out of six league matches to advance to the quarter-finals before losing to Mumbai. Their team features both experienced and rising talent like Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Yashwant Sinha and Sunil Joshi who have represented Karnataka at national levels.
They won the Irani Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy during the 2013-14 season, as well as successfully defending their Ranji title by beating Tamil Nadu in the final. Vinay Kumar picked up five wickets during this final, setting an unprecedented individual score of 328 that set a new Ranji Trophy final record!

Overall
Karnataka has produced some of India’s finest cricketers over time, including Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Vijay Bharadwaj and Javagal Srinath. From 1973-1982 alone, the state proved itself formidable domestically by winning three Ranji titles and one runners up title – something few states were capable of doing at that time!
Current team, led by Vinay Kumar, are performing admirably. Last season they won both Ranji Trophy and Irani Trophy by defeating Maharashtra and Rest of India respectively in both finals. Karun Nair scored an incredible individual score of 328 to help retain the crown for team.
Karnataka has seen tremendous batting performances this season from Mayank Agarwal (with 1160 unbeaten runs, including an unbeaten hundred against East Punjab), but their middle order faltered at times, leading to Karun Nair and K.L. Shrijith being dismissed in quick succession off Yash Thakur and Nachiket Bhute respectively – caught at extra cover off Thakur and dropped at slip by Yash Kadam off Nachiket Bhute respectively – before Aman Mokhade made history by smashing a chanceless century and surpassing all previous run-getters lists.
