On Miami’s initial possession, Tagovailoa completed a 3-yard touchdown pass to Jaylen Waddle, and DeVon Achane ran in for a 13-yard score—marking the first time since 1985 that two rushing touchdowns have been scored by the Miami Dolphins in one game, as highlighted in the Miami Dolphins Vs New York Jets Match Player Stats.
Braelon Allen’s fumble gave the Dolphins possession at New York’s 46-yard line and they drove 96 yards in 15 plays to take a 7-3 advantage.

QB Tyrod Taylor
Tyrod Taylor is currently starting quarterback of the New York Jets and has amassed 1,435 yards and 10 touchdowns so far this season.
On November 27, he threw for 353 yards against the Buffalo Bills and connected for three touchdown passes; two to Mark Clayton and an 80-yard scoring strike to Ferrell Edmunds.
Miami took control in the second quarter with a forceful nine-play, 67-yard march that featured multiple physical carries from Wright. Kicker Riley Patterson completed their 33-yard field goal to give Miami an early 21-0 advantage.
Week 5, these teams met again and the defending AFC champion Jets took an early 24-10 lead against Miami before their opponent staged a late comeback to come from behind and claim it with 34-10 win – an important game given that its completion coincided with a 72-hour rainstorm and therefore left without its traditional covering of plastic tarpaulins on the field.
RB Jaylen Wright
Wright stands out as an exciting running back prospect due to his combination of speed, agility and football instincts. He keeps his pads low while consistently falling forward allowing blocks to develop before unleashing explosive breakaway speed out on the open field.
On Miami’s second drive of the first quarter, LB Tyrel Dodson intercepted New York Jets quarterback Tyrod Taylor and capitalized with a 2-yard touchdown run by RB Jaylen Wright. On their subsequent possession, Malik Washington returned a punt 78 yards for another score, giving Miami an early advantage.
Defense was impressive throughout, with both Jordyn Brooks and Jaylen Sieler notching 2.5 sacks each while creating seven quarterback hurries combined. Safety Ifeatu Melifonwu also contributed with one sack and forced fumble. As a unit, this defense allowed only 207 rushing yards to New York.
WR Calvin Ridley
At its zenith in 1982, Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino led them to victory against New York before losing in Miami during an event known as The Announcerless Game due to the players’ strike. It marked the first time two NFL teams ever faced each other without announcers as game announcers had gone out on strike at that time.
After an inauspicious start, the Jets made things interesting late in the second quarter with a fake punt by Malachi Moore that saw him take a snap and pitch to Isaiah Williams for a 20-yard gain up their home sideline. From there, their defense held off Dolphins offense until late fourth quarter when Rasul Douglas intercepted Cook.
TE Adam Humphries
The Dolphins put on one of their finest performances as a team against New York, dominating them in all areas. They took an early lead behind an effective offense and held firm on defense – notching six sacks and three interceptions to remain ahead in this matchup.
Humphries earned his career-high 10 targets Thursday, but that didn’t translate to much fantasy value for fantasy owners. Reunited with QB Ryan Fitzpatrick after being released by Tampa, his chemistry hasn’t translated to much in terms of production this season.
He continues to see a large share of snaps, but that could diminish when third-round rookie Dyami Brown returns from injury. If playing 14-team leagues, consider treating him as a deep flier as Miami targeted him seven times in red zone situations.
RB Bilal Powell
Bilal Powell displayed incredible talent as he bid farewell to his nine-year tenure with the Jets. In the second quarter, he gave New York hope from an 21-point deficit by returning a punt 78 yards for a touchdown return.
Powell made history on their next drive by breaking free from left tackle and becoming the first running back in franchise history to score three consecutive rushing touchdowns on two separate drives, capping off his 13-play, 92-yard drive with an unexpected score – a 74-yard scamper through defense for his only walkoff score of the game.
University of Louisville alumni Jerry Blanton, Ermal Allen, Chad Pennington and Mark Pike will be honored at a ceremony taking place in 2026 at Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame – its only facility of its kind – as part of the 2026 class. All five will be celebrated during a formal induction ceremony that year.
LB Leonard Williams
Williams earned Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year honors during his freshman year and was considered one of the top prospects at his draft selection in 2015 NFL. As the sixth overall selection, he has already amassed six sacks this season in addition to 15.5 tackles for loss, five quarterback hits and two forced fumbles.
The Dolphins defense dominated throughout, holding New York to just 102 rushing yards on 16 attempts. New York gained some life from Isaiah Williams’ 78-yard punt return but Miami quickly pulled ahead thanks to a 55-yard drive featuring multiple physical runs from Wright and De’Von Achane.
In the third quarter, the Dolphins defense continued its dominance as Robinson, Sieler and Chubb collaborated on a sack of Cook that forced a punt. Their lead grew even larger during the fourth quarter when kicker Nick Folk hit a 31-yard field goal to increase it even more.
LB Jordyn Brooks
Jordyn Brooks, once selected in the first round by Seattle Seahawks, has become an elite run defender and high-end fantasy IDP asset this season. Already amassing 183 tackles (three for loss) this year alone, Brooks stands a solid chance at taking home Butkus Award honors.
He helped Miami establish early control, restricting New York Jets offensive production and disrupting their timing. They dominated the line-of-scrimmage and led by double digits.
The Dolphins closed out the first half with an impressive drive led by DeVon Achane that ended with 13-yard touchdown run from Isaiah Williams for a 21-0 advantage at halftime. Their defensive backs group featuring Josh Allen, Malachi Moore and Jordyn Brooks helped stop several New York drives; their performance was one of their best this year.
LB Jamien Sherwood
Sherwood dedicates two to three hours of film watching each night, taking pride in his ability to read what’s coming next. He often revisits a single play multiple times to look for tells such as minor changes in blockers’ stance.
Sherwood demonstrated his intelligence on this red-zone play against Georgia. Lining up at strong safety in man coverage on a slot receiver and reading his out route pre-snap, Sherwood communicated to his teammates that he intended to play aggressive edge defense.
On the Jets’ subsequent possession, Sherwood dived deep into their backfield to force a fumble which was recovered by rookie DE Malachi Moore and set in motion an 80-yard drive that culminated with Jaylen Wright scoring on two yards run en route to taking a 24-7 lead into halftime.
LB Kiko Mauigoa
After being forced into an ineffective three-and-out by their defense, Miami’s offense quickly responded on a methodical drive featuring multiple physical carries from Jaylen Waddle and DeVon Achane’s 13-yard touchdown run, giving Miami a 21-0 advantage. At that point in time, New York could only muster some limited offensive production before halftime.
Mauigoa boasts an explosive, high-motor demeanor that can be weaponized in a 3-4 front. His diagnose-and-attack mentality allows him to rapidly navigate gaps and cause mayhem in the backfield.
He’ll likely start as a rotational piece as he adjusts to NFL action, though his relentless drive and versatility could earn starting reps down the line. Born and raised in Pago Pago, American Samoa he attended Tafuna High School near his native town as well as Aquinas High in San Bernardino California for high school education.
LB Quincy Williams
Quincy Williams returns as a veteran linebacker for the Browns and injects new life and speed into a roster that was lacking speed last season. Furthermore, Mike Rutenberg knows him from their time together in New York where they both served as defensive coordinators.
Williams helped Gang Green force another turnover on their opening drive of the second quarter by recovering a fumble from Dolphins tight end Jonnu Smith, thus marking their fourth forced turnover of the game.
In the third quarter, New York found some respite when Isaiah Williams returned a punt 78 yards for a touchdown to cut Miami’s lead down to 21-7. But Miami took control back with an elegant 55-yard drive featuring long runs by Jaylen Wright and physical carries from De’Von Achane before eventually ending with cornerback Rasul Douglas intercepting Brady Cook near the goalline.
